Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends football scholarships for his family with service in the local community. The first family is his youngest of the nine children Lucious and Jessie Selmon raised on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. He was also one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma on the field of football. Three brothers all made All-American teams. They made the All-America team in 1973. Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for a single season. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the national by Outland Lombardi, Outland and the Outland Awards. The three seasons he was the starting line-up Oklahoma finished 32-1-0 and secured two national championships. On his third scholarship, he was named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned a bachelor's in the field of education. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering throughout his time at college. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers over nine years and was an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in the field of business. In 1988 he became an account manager for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He as well worked for the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no doubt that it was a surprise to hear that he was voted one of the most distinguished young men in the country by the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1982. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 lbs. He played for his school's team in the year 1975. He was named assistant director of Athletics for the University of South Florida, in 1993. It was the College Football Hall of Fame was named for him in 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor of Oklahoma who conferred this award.
